Just a statement is going to be added. When I teach a general physical exam to a medical assistant, I use the students life experiences to crystallize the event into memory!

My mistake in teaching for the first time was... being too friendly. I treated the student as a patient. Now I have really learned but I want them to succeed!
Now I know how to approach this better. Some kids talk so much but I now think I need to have projects in class and make the talkers present the ideas?
I am told to keep the student happy yet, the real world isn't going to care why a project is late. If I draw a line and dock points I think it is a fair grading process! What do you think? I need to keep students from dropping out?

I think it is very symbolic to do a "get to know you." For many hundreds of years new people did this so, in class, we must! Plus by communicating a fun fact opens people up! I use a picture of what I do on the weekends.

I really like this conncetion for new ideas!

I use their medical concerns to get the student excited!

So, I decided to play a game in my class. I played a matching game, the students had to actually get up for it. It worked, quiz scores were great!

As a Medical Assistant instructor I have to use real life stories to get the students interested. When I do, they open up about their healthcare experiences and it really makes the class more enjoyable!
