Activity

This module has pointed out to me that this module could much more engaging and colorful.

Utilizing UDL will encourage a more authentic and personal approach to teaching. Each student deserves to chance to learn and be taught in a way that works for them.

It is important that we know the known knows, realize that they are known unknowns, and to strive to know the thing we don't know.

Prepare the lesson plan, yes, but review and update after the class. Keep delivery and class procedure current and fluid.

Develop a process of delivery. This will ensure each lesson is similar in the class ensuring consistency and predictability.

There are a lot of new and innovative mediums as technology and the internet continue to evolve. PP is somewhat of an original but the idea is well founded. Keep it simple; makes it better for the presenter and the receiver.

Large group field trips may be impractical and difficult. Perhaps an assignment to study, interview or tour a facility would help students build networks, and become familiar with the local industry. This could even be a step in the interview process.

Work based learning and understanding the changes and enhancements that technology bring is essential to CTE. As we continue to advance in processes and procedures, jobs won't just go away, they will evolve and we, as teachers must evolve along, in order to provide the best instruction for the new generations.

Students need structure. Students will subconsciously sense when a plan or structure is weak or failing. Planning ahead will help the teacher and the student learn and teach as expected. Having a structured learning and teaching process, like "I do, we do, you do," is much like the fabrication process I developed in the industry. Taking an approach that is tested and trusted will confirm the teacher's place and confidence at the front of the class.

I'm excited to create engaging approaches to formative assessments with the students. I expect to spend more time engaging with the students to ensure they are learning more than what they will be tested on. Summative assessments are ideal for meeting academic standards and degree requirements, but formative learning will morph into the skills that will give an edge to future leaders.
