Adapting your lesson plan with various ways to deliver the instruction can reach many different types of learners. Lecture and discussion may work for some, but formats including worksheets and activities will reach others in the classroom. Also reducing learning to 15-minute segments is more likely to help adult learners retain information

I as an instructor can set the class up for success by acknowledging each student and getting to know something about them, being warm and welcoming, and being clear on expectations and the goals of the class. 

This module was very inspiring. I thought of ways to make the first class, especially with new students more structured. I am not naturally a structured person and tend to be do things as they come. The set-up of the classes at this school makes it easy to be that way. I feel after going through this module adding a little structure when going over the syllabus, paying attention to information that they may see during the licensing exam and how the course pertains to everyday applications are important ideas to emphasize in the upcoming course I will be teaching. 

Making sure students know the policies of late assignments and thoroughly going over the syllabus while highlighting all the course materials. I also like the idea of "ice breakers" which I will work on implementing with new classes. 

My personal experience with teaching has come from a more informal background doing workshops and teaching disciplines where students are seated on the floor in a circle. Coming into a formal space considered "institutional learning" has provided new awareness on the presentation of self as an instructor. Honestly, it is not that different even though the environments are vastly different. Having clear boundaries along with a warm rapport with students can create a safe atmosphere for learning to take place.
