I like the part about industry settings the standard not the instructor. We are always reaching out to industry asking what is needed and what is changing to better prepare our students when they graduate.

I have learned the circle and how effective it can be in evaluating the teaching process. Also how rubrics can be used. Alternative assessment is also a big part of the lesson.

I like the idea of using the rubric for grading. Knowing up front what to expect. As a welding instructor I have to visually grade lots of welds and at times there is question of who gets what grade and why. The rubric would make it much simpler.

I like the idea of the rubric for grading and setting the standard for testing. It sets clear expectations for the students and then there is no guessing at the end of the authentic test.

I believe that you should use both assessment types in there proper places. I am a welding instructor who would use traditional in the theory class and authentic in the welding lab.

Keep the students hands on and busy with ftf conversations is always a plus. I don't love lectures and this seems like a great way to keep students awake and involved. Plus it saves a lot of time.

I see the "listen to respond" everyday and it is like a natural way we are designed in this day and age and I believe it is because of how fast paced our lives are. We have to remind ourselves going into listening mode and really understand what someone is telling us and not just getting ready to respond. I know that repeating back the info someone has just told me helps them feel like I have really heard them and understand where they are coming from.

Sounds like the jitt is A great way to save time and get a good view of student understanding before the f2f class starts. I know that in my experience if you put in the time at first to built your class it will pay off in the end.

Think about the end goal (standards and state regulations) and how am I going to get my students to achieve them. Seems simple enough.

So many types of questioning. I think I would like to experiment with them to see what would work best in my class. As a welding instructor we do welding test to measure mastery of processes and task at hand.
