Planning is so important!! I once "winged it" and didn't check the home work I assigned and had a student say that it didn't work.... talk about embarrassing... I pulled it off luckily but still I should have done it first to make sure it would work for the students. Definitely a learning moment.

I am a welding instructor and I use assessment every week with welding tests to see if my students are understanding and performing what I demonstrated for them at the beginning of the week. I wish I could find an not so black and white way of doing things besides testing but at the end of the day the industry standerd is the Weld test. Not just a well the student kinda gets it.

Very good info in this section.  Know the difference between goals, objectives,  and outcomes is so important. And to say "The student will be able to..." . The three different domains is very important to help with teaching. I teach at post secondary so my job is to get my students ready with those employable skills and teach them about the workplace.

Safety is critical. Don't ever leave the lab unattended.

So nice to see that there is a web site out there like pbis to help with those challenging students. It's hard to know what to do in this day and age with challenging students and this will definitely help.

All of this information is so good. I have a wonderful mentor that was my first teacher at the school I teach at and we have an asome TAC (technology advisory committee) committee as well that keeps us up on what is happening in industry.

The break down of the terms and acronyms (there are so many.. haha)  is really helpful as a new teacher. As my first year as a new teacher I found out just how important it is to set your boundaries up front and how that you are not a peer or close friend to the student. You are there to teach. Not to be a new buddy. I also find that the clothing I wear does make a difference in the level of respect you gain from the students. If you walk in wearing a silly t shirt don't expect… >>>

I enjoyed the History portion of this. I never relised how old CTE is and how the first tech school was opened in 1881!! What!?!? :-0 SO COOL! This also is great for knowing that there are standerds in place for CTE teachers to follow and allows for some starting points and foundations to build off of. The 12 Elements are very helpful as well.
