Mkae sure to set boundaries up front on the communication code of conduct and encourage participation.

Using the right technology to communicate to the class is very important. I prefer email as I don't like to give my cell phone number away.

When building the online course, keeping it simple and not to many options is better.

Evaluation during the course and at the end is very important.

Communication is key. Synchronous or asynchronous learning is essential to the learning process. 

I use Camtasia as a tool in my drawing class and then post the videos to moodle.

Students get real world experience and the community gets a to help the school! Sounds like with Service Learning, everyone wins! 

I do a night welding class that is open to the public on Thursday nights and it is not a graded class but rather just one that you can just pass or fail by not showing up. It is pretty fun knowing that as long as the student try's they are going to pass.

Working at a welding program we always have the public stop in with they're projects that need built and its always good for the school to help out.

I teach a night class for the community.
