Soft skills are very undervalued! When talking about concepts I try to tie them to real work examples that I have seen. I also ask them to reflect on their experience home, school, work, etc. where they may have seen this.  I think reflection is key to encourage them to identify the concept with what they may have already experienced.

Safety is so important! With the hands on skills portion of what my profession does this is so undervalued and people take shortcuts and workarounds. Endangering themselves and others. I appreciated the resources that they gave.

I loved the concept of trauma informed schools. I came from a healthcare background where trauma informed care has changed how care is delivered. This is so important!

I wish that I had known about advisory committees when in industry more and been a part of them. I have seen a lot in my years and could offer options for bridging the school to work gap. I also very much appreciate my mentor as I have navigated my first semester teaching.

The classroom ties very closely to what I have been taught in 18 years of industry. Always a good refresher.

I appreciated how the development of CTE came about. I am a big advocate for CTE already and this increased that support.
