Adherence to school policy is vital in cases that deal with student behaviors online.  In many cases, COVID-19 was not expected to be as brutal and longlasting as it has been.  Nevertheless, the integrity of providing students with a quality education still remains.  In doing so, one must safeguard, often from the student themselves, the ability to impeded or interrupt the educational process for any length of time, making sure that policies and procedures are adhered to will certainly be beneficial in cases of dismissal, lawsuits, and opportunists.  In any of the scenarios presented with the type of disrupters, any… >>>

I learned that asynchronous learning in many ways is more powerful than synchronous for student participation in courses.  It allows for more students to inculcate and process the material that they are learning.  It also provides for more individual, authentic responses from more students when compared to synchronous learning.

 

I've learned that the tri-lateral approach that this module advocate is wholistic and that each part becomes vital at certain aspects of the online experience when teaching students:  projecting authority, projecting expertise and trust, and developing a conducive relationship that is steeped in educational pedagogy but tempered with compassion.

 

Online instructional delivery is an art form all its own.  There is a difference between the novice painter when compared to that of a master.  Painting by the number won't cut it here, especially with state accountability not relaxing its requirements and acquisition of state standards.  In order for online platforms to be more content specific, state standard specified, and aligned, they must consider the expertise needed for instruction to be uninhibited, especially when considering the various populations of learners that they will affect.

Some people may be under the false assumption that on-line teaching is the same as in-person teaching, only done via an online platform.

Not so!  Teaching on-line requires attention to specific skills in addition to your expertise and knowledge in the subject area.  Items that one may not have even considered during in-person instruction, because they do them rotely and automatically requires some consideration when delivering instruction online.  The basic orientation of the course and the Course Management system employed becomes vital.  The degree of technical support becomes equally important.
