About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Audrey, How are you going to work on finding that balance? Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Michelle, This is a practice thing. The more you are in front of your students and the more you refine your skills as an instructor the more confidence you will build in your abilities to communicate effectively with your students. Also, have fun while lecturing and you will relax more you will feel comfortable as the learning leader. I wish you much teaching success. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Michelle, Well said and critical to the career development of your students. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Claudia, This setting is good training for the students. By you following and enforcing the policies of the facility in which the students are working they are learning that they have to follow the "Golden Rule". The people with the gold make the rules, meaning we all have to follow the rules and policies of our employer if we want to continue our employment and progress in our career. Many students have a hard time with this concept as you well know. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Rosa, Students really like application stories like those you are sharing. It helps to make the content come alive as well as showing the students the ROI they can get from being successful in your class. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Bob, Two powerful words for students. Application and relevancy. By showing both of them to your students you are engaging them in creating a future for themselves and their families. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Deborah, Good for you. A shared laugh is a very powerful connector for all those involved. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Deborah, It really does. It helps to make teaching a lot more fun for both the students and yourself. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Deborah, So true and so impacting. They need help in forgetting the outside influences while in class and seeing that what they are learning is going to help them create a future for themselves and their families. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Deborah, Good way to provide support to your students. Knowing this assistance is available really helps the students to see that they can be successful in the class if they will put forth the effort. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
