About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Tammie, We have to stay current in our field. If we don't then in reality we are not teaching our subject we are teaching the history of our field and that is now what we are about. Thanks for making this good point. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Eddie, Good point and I like the example you shared. It makes a lot of sense in relation to how we learn and will work together in the workplace. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Tammie, Your passion for your field and your students shows through. This is what being an effective instructor is about. If you are enthusiastic is spreads. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Angela, Well said and so important for students success. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Walt, Well put. Acceptance and support help humans to be success in their education and career. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Torria, Good point. Knowing they have a supportive and encouraging instructor goes a very long way in helping them be successful. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
Hector, So true. Passion and enthusiasm are two critical elements of teaching success. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
LaTunija, I do to. I use role playing a lot in my classes. My students really like to role play and the content of the role playing really reinforces what we are covering. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
James, Good point about the two kinds of learning motivation. Sometimes encourage and sometimes a push help take the learner to the next level in the course. We need to be able to use both as needed. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
LaTunija, I thin this is a great way to reinforce the skills students need to develop while in their externship. The more role play examples you can give them the more they will be able to see application of what they are learning and doing. Gary Dr. Gary Meers
