Activity

Efrain, You approach is supportive to and for the students but in a way that gives them hope and encouragement if they are willing to put forth the effort. This sets up a situation that is positive and engaging for them as they progress through their studies. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cammie, I commend you for your great attitude and professional approach to sharing your expertise and time with your students. They can see in you a model for themselves and this is a critical part of their educational development. Keep up the great work. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Anthony, Students really perk up when they are listening to stories from the field because these stories reinforce the content that is being shared. They bring relevance and application into the classes. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Linda, Good point and one that needs to be made repeatedly with our students. We need to bring passion for our field to the classroom and enthusiasm in teaching content. The students in turn need to make sure they keep their focus so they can create a future for themselves. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Cynthia, Good plan for expanding your expertise and professional development. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Lloyd, Thank you for this explanation about critical thinking processes and efforts. You are right about critical thinking being something that individuals need to work on because in our use of technology today sometimes individuals think that technology is doing the thinking rather that just providing support. Currently, we humans still have to do the thinking to drive the technology. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Susan, You make a good point about matching the message to the students. We all respond to messages in different ways so the more variety we can offer our students them more information they will be able to glean from our efforts to share content with them. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Teresita, Well put in terms of the value of reinforcement. It is a critical teaching technique that needs to be used frequently and appropriate. Students need to see how they and their contributions are valued in the class and when they do through reinforcement they will be engaged in the learning process. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Frank, Students love hearing stories from their instructors. You are helping to reinforce your course content with your stories. The more the students can see application and relevance the more value they will associate with the course. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Teresita, So true. Our name is one of the most valuable things we have and to have someone, like an instructor to recognize and use it means that I am someone special in the class. This is the human factor in education as well as a motivator for the students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
