About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Travis, These are characteristics we must model if we expect to earn the respect of our students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Keyonta, This is a must if we are going to be able to earn the respect of our students. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Lisa, So true and so important for a teacher to model. Students observe how we approach the classroom and lab and if we are not organized they will be quick to think that we do no care about our content nor our profession. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Monica, Things like this are value added items that engage the students. Have fun with them and in turn your students will be more engaged. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Monica, Try doing introductions and an ice breaker or two so the students can get settled into the course. After they have shared their backgrounds with each other and have had a little fun with the ice breakers it will be easier to introduce the syllabus and the rules. By then they will be settled enough for them to see the rule sharing is connected to course success. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Thomas, Good alternate plan. Your presence throughout the room is helping to reduce some of the computer distractions. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Carole, Without them the students do not know where the course is going. They need to be clear and concise so everyone is on the same page in terms of course outcomes. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Raven, Go way to let your instructional style evolve and become more student centered. You are finding the balance you desire as you gain experience in the classroom. Keep up the good work. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Nicole, Key element in critical thinking. Patience is not a strong point in our culture today. Students want to use a formula to problem solve, complete the task immediately and not put forth any thinking in the process. Thank you for bringing up this important element. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Bonita, Like your style and dedication to teaching. You are impacting the lives of your students in so many ways as a result of your professionalism and passion. Keep up the good work! Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
