I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Ray, This is such valuable information for students to have as this gets them into the reasoning mode as you mention. It is not enough to find the one onion but they need to understand how that union impacts the texture and taste of what ever they are preparing. Once they get this idea down they are going to better prepared as they take on more complex tasks. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Diane, This is such an important phase of their training. By knowing how to break down a problem into segments and then working toward solving the problems within those segments the students are able to become big picture thinkers and problem solvers. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Ray, You got that right. This attitude really challenges me since these types of students want to put no effort what so ever into learning how to be critical thinkers. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Amy, This is an important part of their training because they need to see the application and relevance of what they are being taught. When they can use their knowledge and skill sets while still in school the value of their schooling increases greatly. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Wendy, I think you are doing a lot of things to let student know what the real world is like as they are preparing to enter it. It is sad that they don't have this understanding and wash out during the externship phase of their training. So close and yet so far. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.

Kristine, You are using a good strategy. Some students as you say do not want to be there, so they let everyone know it. This is always sad to me since I come from a background of poverty and limited educational opportunities. I was given a chance to go to school and I took advantage of it. Not everyone gets such a chance so when students are given such a chance and don't take advantage of it they are short changing themselves. You are doing the best you can to keep them engaged and the success factor is up to… >>>

Amy, This is an important part of the instructional process. By helping students to have this mind set then you are showing them the value of the course content that is being shared. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Tonya, You used two great resources to gain insight on how to set goals and objectives for your courses. With clear and concise goals and objectives you create a learning path for your students and this will enhance their understanding of what the course expectations are. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
David, This is a nice flow of content delivered via different media. This will offer a chance of pace for the students while keeping them engaged and this will enhance their focus on the information being shared. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
Chanel, I think this is a good way to encourage the development of problem solving skills. The more we can do this the more engaged our students are going to be. Gary Gary Meers, Ed.D.
