About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Ryan, What some ways you demonstrate professionalism for your students? Instructors are always looking for ways to make sure to show their students that they are professional so any suggestions you can make will be helpful. Thanks in advance for your input on this. Gary
Hi Carrie, I think you will have even more impact with your teaching as a result of your using their learning preferences. This will keep the students involved at a more intense level as a result. Gary
Hi Edward, Good way to show your students how to incorporate resources into the classroom so they can see that there is data supporting the content being offered. The more knowledge they have about how to secure resources the more they will use these skills once they are out working. Gary
Hi Ronald, You are right about knowing all of the factors that contribute to student motivation. By knowing them you can customize your instruction to keep them engaged and focused on their course progression. Gary

Hi Candy, What great strategies you are using. Your methods are supportive and engaging for the students and this is so important on the post secondary level. Keep up the enthusiasm I know your students are benefiting from it. Gary
Hi Robert, This approach is so important for adult students. Respect and rapport will come from speaking "to" them rather than at them. Good points for every instructor to remember as he/she enters the classroom. Gary
Hi Ashley, I use guest speakers and field trips as well and they always motivate and excite the students just you mentioned. The students start to see where their career preparation is going to take them. Gary
Hi Candice, Right you are about how we need to keep the students engaged from the very beginning. As the course progresses it is easy for them to wear down and become discouraged. It is at that point it is easy for them to drop out. Gary
Hi Angelique, Way to go in providing multiple ways students can get course information as well as reminding the of assignments. This reinforcement should help to keep them moving forward as they acquire course content and meet the assignments in a timely manner. Gary
