Hi Christopher, Well said and a great plan for achieving your instructional goals. This is what being a professional and dedicated instructor is all about. Keep up the good work. Gary
Hi Janice, Thanks for the input on answering most student questions through the syllabus. I know when I start a new course it is so much easier to deal with student questions concerning course content rather than constantly telling them about attendance and grading issues. When asked about either grades or attendance I refer them to the syllabus and then move on. Gary
Hi All, Great points about having a well prepared syllabus. All of your points have revolved around being clear and concise in how you put the syllabus together in terms of appearance and content. A good syllabus can do much to relieve student fears and reduce their questions because they can see exactly how the course is going to unfold and what the requirements are. Gary
Hi Cynthia, This shadowing experience is a great way to make it "real" for the students. They get to see what work is really like plus they get to see it in their own school building. A quick but efficient way to reinforce the content that you are sharing with your students. Good job. Gary
Hi Robert, I know these experiences really increase the interest and motivation of your students. Hearing how you solved this problem or situation helps to make the learning real for the students. Keep up the good work and I wish you much success with your road racing. Gary
Hi Gayle, Good Circle of Instruction. Each part of the circle contributes to more effective and efficient instruction with constant improvement woven throughout. Well done. Gary
Hi Kris, Well said. You are an active learner when you are listening to what your students are saying plus they will respect you since you are willing to be a good listener. This is a win - win for everyone. Gary
Hi Dr. Fuqua, Good advice on how to start off a class successfully. The more students know about the expectations, requirements, and policies of the course the few questions they will have and the lower their frustration will be. Gary
Hi Cynthia, Good strategy. Thanks for sharing it with us. Turning Points really help to keep the students engaged and contributing to the class. I know your students appreciate your effort in encouraging them to contribute what they are learning to the total class discussion. Gary
Hi Jody, Right you are about needing to know each and every students as well as you can. How do you approach getting to know your students? I know a number of new instructors will benefit from your input. Gary
