About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Douglas, Learners like variety and by using different mediums and deliveries you are offering them opportunities to use their learning preferences in acquiring the new knowledge. Good strategies. Gary
Hi Douglas, Dead on. With all the different forms of communication we have today, one of the overlooked forms is direct conversation with each other. We need to remember that as we work with our students. They appreciate it when they can talk with us. Gary
Hi Jean, All this things add up to involvement. The key is to offer opportunities for the students to get involved and use their newly acquired knowledge. When they do that they get motivated. Gary
Hi Joel, Right you are. If you are motivated and enthusiastic about your content your students will be as well. Spread the excitement and everyone will benefit. Gary
Hi Aimee, Right you are about needing to bring the human side into the classroom and you being you while doing it. This is the key ingredient in being a professional role model plus it helps to establish rapport with the students. Gary
Hi William, I agree with you in how you are approaching the sharing of the goals and objectives of your course. This way the students know what they course expectations are and what they have to do to meet them. Gary
Hi Catherine, Good to hear. How do you plan to incorporate these instructional styles into your own delivery? Thanks for you input on this. Gary
Hi William, This has been my experience as well. This is why we instructors need to have clear goals and objectives laid out for our students and share them often throughout the course. Gary
Hi Wanda, You are doing a good job of connecting each instructional step to the next one. They build on each other and the students need to see this. Once they do they will see how each course impacts their future success. Gary
Hi William, Right you are. They must see the relevancy if they are going to value what they are studying. They need to realize this is real and it impacts their future. Once they see that they can focus on being successful in their training. Gary
