About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Hi Dr. Dunlap, Good plan to make everything clear for the students. You strategy of having the students bring their experiences into the class discussion is a good way to demonstrate that they have something to contribute and that you will be listening to and respecting their input. Gary
Hi Jackie, I like what you have written. This plan will serve to strengthen your focus and delivery resulting in more student engagement and satisfaction. I wish you much teaching success. Gary
Hi Don, Thank you for this perspective. You are in a great position in terms of professional expansion of your expertise as an educator. You see where you want to go and how you are going to get there. I know you are going to find even more enjoyment from teaching as you shift your focus on the Student Centered approach. I wish you much teaching success. Gary
Hi Dr. Dixon, You made me smile because I am like that. I still have many of my class notes and find that after all these years there is still great relevance to what my professors taught me. This helps me to not reinvent the wheel but to expand on it in terms of content, technology and strategies. This helps me to expand my expertise. Hope that is your experience as well. Gary
Hi Dr. Dunlap, That is what sequential learning is all about. The more we can build these ladders of learning for our students the better they will be able to see relevance and application to the content. Gary
Hi Jorge, Right you are. In addition, without clear goals and objectives the instructor is open to be challenged about assignments, grades, and other aspects of the course. Gary
Hi Linda, Right you are. If you aren't perceived as being in charge it is going to be a very long tough class to teach since you will be tested each time the class meets and that is no way to have to teach. Gary
Hi Carolos, Right you are about how first impressions impact on the rest of the course. It is always easier to go forward with good impressions rather than spending time correcting bad ones. Gary
Hi Rachelle, These types of publications are good to make available to the students. They get to see how the real world is operating in their field through these publications in addition to reading about what is current. Gary
Hi Treshena, Good points. As educators we need to make sure we plan for all components of the teaching process not just the content. Gary
