Hi Quynh, Good strategies all in being successful both with the new course and the one you have previously taught. The steps you are following are going to help you be successful in reaching your students while providing them with support as needed. Gary
Hi Tonya, Great job of bringing application to their learning. I am sure your students really enjoyed having the opportunity to take their new information outside and use it. This is what helps them in seeing the relevancy to their learning. Gary
Hi Homer, Good plan. This way you will be touching on the different learning preferences that your students have and that will assist in keeping them focused on the course content. Gary
Hi Sharon, Sounds like you are using a number of different strategies to get the content across to your students. By using the different techniques you are appealing to their learning preferences while also keeping them engaged. Gary
Hi Amanda, Good point about student engagement. You need to get them to invest in the course because they realize their success will contribute to their future. Once they get a hold of this concept they will put forth the effort required to meet the course expectations. Gary
Hi David, Finding the instructional balance in your class is always a challenge. You make good points about how you need to find that balance as you do your planning and delivery. By keeping this in mind you will be able to adjust as you need to to keep your students engaged throughout the course. Gary
Hi Amanda, Good comments about planning early and the advantages of doing so. The idea that by knowing what you are going to do in advance gives you insight into how to do it even better is a good one. This will increase your effectiveness as an instructor while reaching students at a much higher rate. Gary
Hi Amanda, Right you are about clear and concise information about the course requirements plus holding the students accountable for their destiny. They need to make the connection between course success and effort and when they do they have greatly increase the potential they have for success. Gary
Hi Chuck, I like both of your approaches. This gives the students the big picture as well as having them personalize the course by listing their own goals. This really helps them focus on the course content. Gary
Hi William, Another very good point. Knowing you have an instructor that is interested in you and your success really helps as a student when you have some struggles. You want to be successful because of the faith the instructor has in you. This is what rapport is about in teaching. Gary
