About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Hi Twykisha, You last sentence really lays out the value of an exercise like this. The students can see you care about their success and they get a wider picture of their learning preferences. A win win for everyone. Gary
Hi Rachel, Good way to involve all students. By having them contribute to the course you can get a feel for where they are at and what their learning preferences are. Gary

Hi Craig, Good points about how to "read" your students and then make adjustments as needed. This will keep you and your students focused on course outcomes. Gary
Hi Khalid, How do you assess student motivation and use it as an instructional style? Thanks for your input on this. Gary
Hi Stephanie, Congratulations on the growth you have had already in your teaching career. You are doing a host of things that are really going to help both your students and yourself grow. As for finding a balance for different levels of students you can talk with the students and then use your observational skills to determine how you can create learning groups for the different levels in your classes. Gary
