About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Hi Keelan, Right you are about needing to establish rapport with students. Earning their respect goes a long way in establishing rapport which leads to enhanced learning and greater student satisfaction. Gary
Hi Cecilia, Good way to connect their life experiences and your career knowledge to what they are studying. This way they will have a realistic picture of what they are going to face. Gary
Hi Mark, Good way to make it "real" for your students. You are attaching dollars to learning which in turns translates to profit when they are out in the field. Great job! Gary
Hi Stacy, Good point about how enthusiasm reflects on teaching success. We have to bring it to the classroom if we expect our students to be excited. Gary
Hi Gale, Thanks for sharing your ideas and this strategy with us. I know it will be of value to other instructors. Gary
Hi Eric, You make a very good point about how to influence the minds of the students so they will see relevance in what they are studying. If the connection can be made between content and application you are going to be successful as an instructor. Gary
Hi Kleinkauf, Good strategy for showing students relevancy and application of their new knowledge. In addition, it teaches them attention to detail to make sure everything and everyone is where it/they need to be. Gary
Hi Rebecca, Right you are. This is why effort needs to be put into developing a very good one. Gary
Hi JH, Right you are. We get excited because others are excited. So we need to bring enthusiasm to the class each time it meets. Gary
Hi Justin, Good advice and very well put. Keep the message simple and to the point so the students will see what the purpose is of why they are being taught what they are. Gary
