About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Danita, Simple devices but powerful learning tools. Good information about how these devices benefit the learning of students. Gary
Glenda, Good to hear about the additional knowledge you have acquired through your professional development. Keep expanding your knowledge base because you are impacting the lives of your students every day. Gary
Alvin, Your last sentence gives some very good advice for instructors. By knowing what people want and how to appeal to their interests gives instructors insight on how to engage them in learning. Gary
Julie, In what way? What have you found to work with your students? Gary
Curtis, Well said. I like the way your scale works because you are correct. It is essential to demonstrate the human factor in the learning process. Gary
Alvin, Excitement is catching. Good point about how we need to bring it to each class we teach. This really helps to keep the students engaged. Gary
Frances, This is so important and you make a good point about the value of a positive first impression. It sets the stage for the entire course. Gary
Megan, This is important because there are always situations that require we make judgment calls. By having a clear policy you can work from you then know where and how you can be flexible. Gary
Susana, All of these components contribute to enhanced learning. We need to keep this in mind as we look at our classrooms/labs and try to see what are students are seeing when they enter that setting. Gary
Craig, So true. Good point about keeping them informed so they don't become stressed out as the course progresses. Gary
