About me

I am an Education Advisor/Consultant for MaxKnowledge. I write courses that assist in the professional development of career college instructors. These courses range in content from the introductory level to advanced instructional development. I started my teaching career as an instructional technology teacher on the high school level, completed graduate school and then moved into higher education. I spent many years in the area of teacher training at the University of Nebraska. While at the University of Nebraska I stared working with career college instructors to improve their instructional delivery skills. As a result of these experiences I have been a consultant to career colleges throughout the United States and a number of foreign countries.

Activity

Kenle, Connecting the dots is valuable for the students and the more real life examples they can see the greater they can see application and relevancy. Gary
Anthony, Thank you for laying out the strategies for instruction. This is comprehensive and helps the students to see clearly what is going to be done in the course. Gary
Donald, Good way to "connect the dots" for the students and help them see the value of the content. Gary
Falicia, Good advice for instructors to follow. We need to bring to the classroom a level of excitement that our students can see and appreciate. Gary
Stephanie, What a great complement your students are paying you. Even though you teach a course that is not the most popular with them you are giving them ROI on their effort plus they are catching some of your enthusiasm. Gary
Stephanie, Good way to "connect the dots" between a foundational course like English and their field. They have to see the value of the course before they will invest. The more examples you can share with them the more they will be engaged in the application of effective communication. Gary
Beverly, Good luck next week. With the ideas you have shared with us I know each week is going to get better in both your instructional delivery and confidence as an instructor. Gary
Lisandra, Variety and change of pace are two good ways to keep students engaged. You are doing both with this approach. Gary
Beverly, Good way to illustrate what is going to be covered that day and what the expectations are. This lets the students focus on the content of the course. Gary
Karen, Well said and so important to the students as they know the standards by which they will be judged as well as the skill sets they are expected to acquire. Gary
