lesson plans can be time consuming but a good lesson plan can be retained and justify why certain lessons are taught. A good lesson plan can be retained and altered over time without using large investment of time over the long run. 

Lesson planning and design must be done with the knowledge of the student in mind. This must meet the need of the person who requires more attention but must not sit above the person who is most knowledgeable in the class. In so doing you do not run the risk of one becoming frustrated and the other becoming bored. Lesson planning and execution must also be drafted and executed with time in mind. 

All technology tools have their strengths and are dependent on the instructor's knowledge and ability to use it in a manner to maximize its effectiveness. 

the instructor has general responsibility for safety in the lab and can become a liability if certain standards are not enforced and adhered to. 

There are 4 primary learning styles, each person has a different learning style. each student should know their learning style and apply it. teaching in the laboratory requires many different strategies to allow the instructors viewpoint to prevail. 

Competency based education is more scalable with measurable outcomes. This is less theoretical with less employment of an abundance of theoretical information that sometimes create confusion. Competency based education is more than just hands on, but it builds character, skill and confidence in a more predictable way. 

Intrinsic motivators are more powerful than extrinsic motivation certain motivators can be both intrinsic and extrinsic. 

Autonomy and security affect adult learners in their ability to feel confident and to succeed.  to ensure their success means to allow students to exercise greater autonomy over their work and allow them to feel a sense of security in their work.

I have learned that connecting with students, setting expectations and allowing students to own their content is a good motivating factor knowing what motivates each individual allows the instructor to tailor the course content to better facilitate each individual learner. 

I have learned that adults have a short attention span of 10 - 15 minutes, that people become bored easily, It is beneficial to deviate slightly to get back the attention of students. Identifying students by name and getting everyone involved in the discussion is beneficial to student learning. by walking back and forth in the class, keeping eye contact and stepping forward to talk to students helps to encourage participation and boost confidence.
