Autonomy and security affect adult learners in their ability to feel confident and to succeed.  to ensure their success means to allow students to exercise greater autonomy over their work and allow them to feel a sense of security in their work.

I have learned that connecting with students, setting expectations and allowing students to own their content is a good motivating factor knowing what motivates each individual allows the instructor to tailor the course content to better facilitate each individual learner.

I have learned that adults have a short attention span of 10 - 15 minutes, that people become bored easily, It is beneficial to deviate slightly to get back the attention of students. Identifying students by name and getting everyone involved in the discussion is beneficial to student learning. by walking back and forth in the class, keeping eye contact and stepping forward to talk to students helps to encourage participation and boost confidence.

Knowing your students just by learning their names, enhances communication.  communication, allow them to feel as if they are included, a part of something great.

Student groups can be varied, this includes variation in age, experience, culture, dis-similar backgrounds, learning styles, and measurement of success. It is prudent and of great importance that the instructor articulates clearly, the goals and objectives of the course, what is expected and how to get there.
