Activity

The role of the supervisor of a student participating in an internship is an integral part of  successful program outcomes. Students need a supervisor who has steps to development.

Internships allow students to explore career paths and put into practice skills learned in the classroom. Another benefit is that employers are able to screen applicants for available positions.

Continuing education equals continuing improvement. Institutions providing experiential learning opportunities have a increased empolyment success rate. Education for staff to increase their knowledge of how these programs enhance a students ability to understand the needs of an employer as well as the employers having the opportunity to screen potential candidates should benefit everyone in the institution.  

Understanding the unique combination of skills and abilities of students will help an institution create an effective support system for students as they prepare for employment. Providing resources is an essential function of an institution preparing students to meet the demands of employers.

Relationships with alumni provide important networks for both the institution and students. These connections incease career opportunities for students and provide future candidates for businesses.

Helping students to reach their career goals is the responsibility of the entire institution.
