Course evaluations should not be completed only at the end of the course.  They should be implemented every three tio five weeks.

It was interesting to see students view online instructor effectiveness based on teaching presence, social presence, and instructor response time.

Establish concise procedures for instructor / student communication is essential for effective communication.

I had not considered the idea that "helping students understand the time management process in turn helps the online instructor."  This occurs by allowing the instructor to focus more on helping students with result of learning versus the process of learning.

The acronym for describing netiquette based on the word RESPECT can easily be utilized in an online envirnoment.

Online teachers should provide students with a list of basic technology skills that are required for the class.

Students need to be aware (and frequently they are not) online classes require as much, if not more time, than a F2F class.  And, since most communication will be in written form, strong reading and writing skills are essential.

In my experience, the concept of viewing time as "tangible, visual, and measurable" is something students find difficult. They are easily distracted by the "right now" and fail to plan for what is coming.

Becoming a "guide onb the side" is a challenging but important skill.  Doing this in a f2f situation is much easier than in an online setting.

Having taught for a span of time, the discussion on generational differences was insightful.  I find there are also subsets of each generation.  The students I taught five years ago differ from the students I teach today.
