Margaret, The student only knows what s/he reads or sees in the headlines. Even though they may have a very positive experience with their institution the media has a way of slanting the information in a way that leaves the student feeling deceived.

Carolyn, I think having an open mind is an important character trait. Many times students feel judged when sharing information about their situation.

Melissa, There could be a variety of reasons. Many students are intimidated in a group session, afraid that their personal information may be overheard or embarrassed that they didn't understand the information. The good thing is that they are asking the right questions.
