I enjoyed the course more than I thought I would Lots of excellent information that will help all to build a culture of compliance.

I found that in EL101 there were many aspects that can be easily translated from the online learning environment to the development of groundbased classes.

Ground based courses can easily use many of the online stratagies.  Additional readings and videos from online sources can easily enhance and claify topics from the lectures, Online quizzes and discussions can stimulate or be a continuation of the ground based classroom to continue to engage the student and reach the desired learning outcomes.

Enjoyed the course.  Removed some misunderstandings about the law.  I think I'll be better able to assist my students in getting the accomodations they need.

1. What have  you learned?  I found that some of the areas I believed were only applicable to Admissions or FA applied to all of us.  This training was helpful in bringing that to light and informing me what those regulations are.

2. How can I apply it?  It made me more aware of how careful I need to be in talking to perspective students their families when they tour the school and when I sit and talk to them during the admissions process.  I have always attempted to make sure admissions has the most uptodate information on my program. … >>>

I found it interesting to see the various approaches other instructors use to overcome the challenges described in ED 105.  The variety of tools availalbe for use, the use of various forms of instructional media and the online resources available to enhance the lerning experience of our students was very helpful.  It's always great to get other points of view and also good to see so many have the same issues regardless of location.  ED 105 was an excellent experience and I recommend it to all.

Jamie, I've taught med term a few times and one of the most useful activities that I found was to buy some giant LEGO's and put word parts on to teach Lego prefixes on some, root words on others, and suffexes on others.  Once I had that done on the other side I would put the meaning of the word parts that was there than that I would have students build words utilizing the Lego's.  It's amazing what happens when you have a bunch of adults sitting on the floor building things with Legos and building medical words.

I look forward to taking that module.  Having a child and a grandchild of learning disabilities I have some knowledge of the problems and solutions but it's always great to get other perspectives.  My concern currently are students who are ESL.  I have five will came in at the same time and their oral communication skills in English are not bad however, their written skills are atrocious.  It also makes the test taking the challenge for them.  I've been tempted to see if I can find an organization run business they can translate my tests into whether Turkish or Russian… >>>

I found there were many areas I had become a bit complacent about.  This course helped me focus on those areas and I've seen an improvement in my classes already.    I didn't realize how easy it was to get into a rut teaching the same courses over and over and the impact that had on my students learning.  This gave me the shot in the arm I needed to get back on track.
