Yes they certainly do need to feel connected right from the start. It is very important to know your students by name and to interact with them when doing so. I usually try to call upon my students and using the daily attend. until I memorize them. I set a goal and try to know them by the end of the first week.

Education is very important Scott, but that is definately an open ended statement and very much open for discussion. It is certainly a great start at being the cornerstone of a strong and prospective economy, that is why we as educators must ascertain that our students obtain the best quality education that we can offer them

While I agree with your comment I also feel that by prioritizing your time and setting a schedule are also very important for any level of the team during your workday.

I also feel that my students sometimes get what I call senioritis and they begin to realize that there is little time left to prepare for the "real world" I try to start from the very beginning to ascertain that they are well prepared to go out into the field and obtain a job in their field. I reitterate to them every time I sense a bit of nervousness I let them know that they are well prepared and to keep a positive attitude.

learning disabilities

students with learning disabilities sometimes need some extra time or extra added explanation of the lesson. I always encourage any of my students to see me for extra help if they need to.

life experience and work related examples in the classroom

in all of my years experience I can think of no better way to learn that by example. hearing stories from instructos in the past and now relating as an instructor myself makes me realize how well this relationship helps on a situation to situation experience
