I have been teaching at a technical school for the last seven years and during that time I have worked with numerous students with disabilities and accommodation plans made for each student, which is within our preview as a technical school, we do make slight modifications to the curriculum but we do not change the outcome or expectations for the students. When I do make modifications for accommodations I have found that the rest of the students work well with the changes too, not just students with disabilities, it also gives us instructors challenges to change the way we deliver… >>>

I find when I am introducing a new class of students to my class I am also introducing new concepts to them at the same time and must keep them involved and engaged from the beginning, I have found that if you sale the class to them they stay motivated and from day 1 all the way thru to the end and the only way to do that is to understand you are working with multiple intelligences with different life experiences.

When I have student(s) that need mentoring/tutoring I will use one of his fellow student(s) that is already aware of his needs and the mentoring/tutoring student will also benefit from the additional training he receives when helping mentor/tutoring. The added benefit to my class is I have a better retention.

At my technical school I teach a number of classes through out the year, with the different classes I must stay in touch with the changes for each course. Handling the changes for each course is easier to check the manufactures website and any manual changes once a week and then make changes to the course as needed.

Absolutely, as long as you make a mental note to your self so you can reference back to it if need be for further counseling.

When dealing with Challenging students, weather it is missed assignments, late/absent, or cheating at our school we document it on a Student Advisement Form to monitor and if needed to advise, retrain, or send the student on his way. I any case we record everything going on in the class room and with the students for our records.

Even though we have little participation at the orientation at our technical school we provide the student with the needed information during their training for perfomance, attitude, interactions with each other and later after they graduate to network with each other to better help them selves and their customers as they progress through out classes.

I am an Instructor at Technical school and we have used Poster board that the students have drawn on of the impression or actual training they have preformed during class, after we have discussed their work it is placed around the room for new students use and it has worked out quit well for us as teaching tools and examples.

I have found that time and preparation are the key to classroon lecture and/or demos, knowing the sudject matter and refinement of the subject matter will greatly enhance the students abilty to grasp the subject.
The biggest problem I see for retention is the training for the Instructors, who interact with the students every day, and do not have the ability to pick up on their students training styles so they can watch for any problems the students will encounter and help them work through and/or point them to the right office to get the help they need. Once the student is getting the help needed we need to monitor too see they are working thru the problem and not letting someone else fix it for them.
