I agree that effective messages need to command a response. I have also noticed that keeping it short and direct and truly wanting the response - yeilds results. A sense of urgency is always helpful. 

I appreciate what was discussed about being presistent and using the phrase, "I missed you at 2pm " I also learned to not ask " do you still want something... This was insightful.

I feel it is completely appropriate to ask probing questions in past, present, future model

The ability to listen and gather information is imperative to understand the consumers needs. I appreciate the senquncial format of this steps process in making initial contact. 

Body Language is an important part of communication, it is also a part of active listening and demonstrating that you care about a student and their needs. 

Body Language is an imperative part of listening and paying attention. It is still something that I believe that you can do over the phone by listening to body language and gaos within the studetns speach. 

Active listening and knowing when to ask open and close ended questions is important...leading the conversation but in an effort to truly understand the needs of the student is very important. 

Principles of Communication:

1. Active listening

2. Appropriate responses 

3. Understanding/reacting to body language

4 Ask open and close ended questions

5. Build trust by seeking a common grouund. 

 I intend to know display appropriate use of Empathy and Sympathy to provide direction, strength, and understanding to prospective and exsiting students. 

In this module, I have learned how to implament effective communicative skills when speaking over the phone, writing a letter, and having an in-person conversation. These simple tools help with stucture and work together to make a more cohesive and productive conversation and objective that is clear.
