Activity

The variety of activities in this section is truly exceptional.  These activities will review and help reinforce the content.  I will try the rebus puzzle.

The importance of mental engagement and how to reach the seers (visual) and doers (kinesthetic).  Utilizing various learning methods, including auditory, visual, and kinesthetic approaches, as a quick memory aid to reinforce critical content. Using the nine-box method is something I will use in my teaching.

Learned different team activities to utilize in the classroom.  Enhancing the use of open-ended and closed questions.  I’ve utilized the blank index cards, having students write words and meanings on five different cards, and divided them into two teams.  I did the blank sheet, but it was taped to the whiteboard. Played a baseball game similar to the one described, but allowed the team to decide on the number of bases they earned for a correct answer. Each team had the possibility of getting: one grand slam, two triples, six doubles, and twenty base hits.  It was interesting to see… >>>

The question that was raised: Is it possible to engage an entire class? A good teacher can engage the whole class by utilizing many of the skills learned from this content.  Each brain can be focused on the content being presented. Reviewing and reinforcing content with engaged learners who like the subject is one step to take. I will focus on utilizing 10-minute sections, adjusting what students and I do to accommodate all learning styles, as one way to engage learners.

Having learners who take personal responsibility and invest time in learning, both in and out of class, would be great. Using some of the tools in this class has opened my eyes in many ways.  These tools will be utilized. Peer language is a powerful teaching tool that we often utilize.  The ET Buddies are great, will be using this along with the 3-month follow-up.

I was in the mindset that lecturing was the best way to cover all the content, and it took longer to utilize the variety of learning tools. Seeing this, you can teach content more efficiently using a variety of methods, saving you time. Getting to know each other's learning styles through a 60-second assessment question was beneficial, as it allows you to assess yourself personally and as an educator. As a nurse, we are a lifelong learner, and this has helped me become an educator. Trying to achieve better ways to teach all students. I will be utilizing these tools.

Loved the names in the first module: Jabber, Touchy, Integer, and Loner. However, the “fairy tale” characters, the Friendzy twins, Nattie, Rainbow, and Rapper, covered the last four frames and stuck with me better.  Will try the network tool “Have you ever?” for those who share stuff in common. I do, at the end of the day, ask students to write down something they learned during class, but I never thought of it as a way to connect those who share common interests.  I use baseball bingo as a way to get to know each other, but I never thought… >>>

In this module, I learned about various tools to use in teaching, including the eight ways of knowing.  Being aware of how everyone understands and being able to teach these students effectively. As educators, we need to establish our teaching skills that “NOT ONE SIZE FITS ALL”.  Hiding treasure in reading, using props, and comparing and contrasting are valuable tools that I will utilize in the classroom and everyday life.

The activities to learn anatomy and physiology are excellent and engaging for students.  I had not heard of the spaghetti rolling in the plastic wrap.  The activity of analyzing blood gases is one I plan to try in the classroom. Great activities.

The various approaches to teaching the content, such as using T-shirts, shower caps, and sheets, will help them remember the activity later in life and will be shared with future generations.  I’ve done the brain on the shower cap.  Never thought of the sheet for the heart ... this will be incorporated in the classroom as will the process of CPR.
