I have learned to be more intentional with how I make test questions. I will try writing them after I cover the subject in class to be more accurately connected to the content delivered.

I like the idea of using CAT activities, not only at the beginning or end of class, but also mid class to regain focus. I also liked the example of whether "what" or "how" we teach is more important - like scissor blades, both are so important that they can't work without each other.

I feel like this helped me understand how important the process of questioning really is. I need to plan my questioning process to give students a chance to think and build on each other's responses. I hadn't previously thought that much about how I was asking the question.

I learned that it is important to identify my own learning style as an instructor and consider if I am using a variety of styles as I teach. I am learning how to vary my instruction and incorporate ways to differentiate learning to accommodate different styles.

I've learned that making accommodations does not mean changing any essential element of the material. It should be done in a way that is safe and non threatening. Considering the what, how and why of learning may be beneficial to all learners, not just those with disabilities.

I am learning that setting clear expectations in the classroom is so important for all students for so many different reasons. Also starting each day with a clean slate and holding no grudges is important for teachers and students.

This section has been helpful in recognizing student behaviors and understanding the student may have difficulty controlling them. I can see how moving the student's seat, giving directions multiple ways, or letting them write/type/use a calculator could help with certain disorders.

I learned some ways of accomodating students with different types of disabilities.

Students/parents must advocate for accomodations and complete the correct process for obtaining documentation of the learning disability. School teachers and staff should follow the plan to assist these students.

Students with learning disabilities are not able to control their ability to focus by using self discipline alone. I try to remember this in the classroom.
