Activity

Action and expression are key to developing and effective UDL. Having several modalities to reach all learners is so important (Obviously) in getting that lesson plan, test, quiz, shop exercises, ect, to all my learners to meet their individual needs for accommodation.

Representing in several forms of media and format allows the student, regardless of their needs, to understand and to get across the lesson plan. Although I have not really encountered the need of this, in my classroom, I do accommodate in other modalities for my IEP and 504 plan students.

Technology in ones career is very important to keep on top of. In my classes, almost daily we have new technologies in (Aviation) The use of support materials will give the students what they need and the teacher to teach to that.

Objectives help the students know that these objectives speak to the standards and rationale of the career field.

A well designed lesson plan will keep you on point and help you as a teacher to keep continuity and your students will not get confused.

Always be prepared to give the lesson and stay on time. If there is a time crunch, have an alternate lesson plan if needed. Timing is crucial to get the material across to the student. Doing these things will let the students know that you are organized, and as a result they will respect the instructor and stay engaged.

Having a discussion with a student that missed assignment a real important step to make early. I do this with my students when needed, but the discussion stops when I feel the student is not living up to his promises. The grade book being up to date will also let the student no that he or she needs to perform better to get back in the game.

Have some back-up resources available to get them back on track. We need to keep them busy and help steer them back to remain engaged.

I need to be a neat writer and illustrator... This skill set I have not mastered! I was terrible at Pictionary... PowerPoint is an effective tool to catch their eye and to stay focused on the material within the slides.

I learned a lot more regarding field trips, guest speakers and of course, classroom organization. The observation work sheet, post the field trips, is a great idea and would give me more then a show of hands answering my questions. I could combine both... Also I do have a lot of industry professional that have come in to speak about their job and answer student questions after.
