I have worked with an ELL in my classes. The student had great difficulty speaking english, thus not able to answer questions or share experiences, or even participate in the class during lectures and projects. As much as I tried to get an interpreter to assist, however none available. There was a student friend that spoke Spanish, and were friends... She was able to help be her voice... Not the best solution, but that is all I had at the moment!

Another great module on creating student groups to work on an assignment. I have practiced this in my classroom and it has been a fun experience for not only me, but the students. They stay focused on the assignment, however the shy students now have a voice so it is great for them!

Wow, I have a few of these negative traits that I am working on! Great suggestions and I will definitely take this module into my class. I already practice a lot of these positive methods, but will work on others!

The evaluation of each student is key to gauge the students knowledge on the subject and to assist you in planning your lesson plans.

Student learning and assessment both need to be used together. Assessment is key to gauge my students knowledge on the subject or project he or she is working on.

Students need to be also ready for class and have the discipline to return any homework. We need to have the same, as the students will follow our example. They also need to participate in the class and previous modules gave me some help in getting that!

I realize that many different teaching strategies help with my students. Teaching can be hard and it is not easy to always come up with a method that hits all my students. I like all these different strategies and methods that I can take back to my classroom.

Technology, use of latest media, and visuals all represent a methods to engage our students, thus increasing literacy across several student populations. These, along with lecture and homework assignments have a much better result with students staying engaged in both the classroom and at home. Their individual COMMUNICATION increases!

Reading, writing, listening and speaking is so essential and a must for our students to express and work through the lessons. I struggle with a majority of my students not having these essential skill sets. They will also need these skills to carry into their careers. We want to build them to success. I work closely with councilors and general ed teachers to help them.

This is a tough one... Engagement in itself is the relationship between the student and the teacher. I feel it should not be a cookie cutter definition, but rather what works for this relationship and what I can do to assist that in happening.
