I like the idea of an object library where you can store older materials and courses for future reuse if needed.

The section reinforces the need to give constant feedback to your students. Publicly and privately as necessary. I found the requirement of students logging in everyday to be unrealistic because my students tend to be working full time and many of them have other responsibilities. That is more of the ideal goal to set for the students.

I like the use of a template. I can see how this would save time and avoid repetitive questions. I plan to give this a try.

Depending on the class the level of technology support that the instructor is asked to give can be overwhelming. It is importatnt that the instructor has someone to go to who is a technology expert when they need help. I like the idea of a FATQ site for students where many bsice tech issues can be found along with a way to solve the issue.

I feel that active participation is a big factor in how students can deepen their knowledge when taking onlind courses. It is part of the instructors job to keep encouraging students to be involved and interact with other students and myself. This section also focused on setting up schedules with students so that they do not lose track of the work that has to be done and the time in which it has to be turned on.

I learned that we must determine the technology skill levels of each student. We cannot assume that they have even the most basic skills, such as how to upload a file, when we are getting started. The use of social media can be a way to engage students in a real world form of learning if they have the social and communication skills necessary to communicate in that media. We must evaluate their skills prior to adding that to the course.

Technology skills of the student must be evaluated by the instructor. You may have to teach basic skills such as how to download and upload documents at the start of a class. The use of social media is another tool that can be used to keep students engaged in their learning of real world skills. You still must determine if the student has the social skills necessary to maneuver in the different forms of online media. We cannot assume that our student will come to us with even basic skills when it comes to tech.

Communcation becomes much more important when students cannot hear the tone of your voice or see your facial expression. I liked the CPA acronym because that is an easy way for me to remember when I am posting to a student to keep my language clear, professional and appropriate.

It will take a lot more understanding and evaluation of the needs of students with learning disabilities. You need to understand what exactly what accomodation each student will need in order for them to be succesful. The first individualized meeting will be vital to get the information you need from the student and their parent if appropriate.

The rubric is a tool that helps both the students and the instructor. It makes it easier for the student to clearly identify what needs to be done on a project of assignment and it helps the instructor when grading work.
