I thought that retention was going to be focused on a students retention of the information, instead this seems to be more focused on retaining students at the school. Still learning, just not what I thought the topic was going to be.
I need to vary the way I teach to keep the students interested and to reach as many learning styles as I can.
It is important to provide some information about yourself and get an understanding of who the students are. Both names and level of previous knowledge in the subject matter.
Preparation is the key to success throughout the course. I also like the checklist idea for keeping myself on track.
I took away that I will need to be a model of what the students see in the industry. Leading the classroom and being a good listener and communicator will help me be successful.
This lesson helped me look at technology integration into my lessons and how to make the most of the e-learning environment I've found myself in.
Learning objectives and standards will help guide the creation of the lesson plan and help keep the instructor on track. It will also help to ensure the students get what they need out of the course.
Detailed lesson plans will help keep you on track. Keep an organized binder of past lesson plans to reach back on when teaching classes again and also to provide to substitute teachers.
Lesson planning serves as a guide for instructing students. Getting to know the students will help with managing the course because you will know where they are already at with the subject matter.
I learned about different types of tests and when/how to apply different methods and types of questions.
