An interesting thing i learned about this module, which can pertain to myself, is as the adult learners in a class may feel out of place, but once they express their knowledge of real-world experiences, i feel the students, overall would accept an older adult classmate with no problems.

Stay organized with short 10 -15 minute lectures, keep the students attention span. We dont want our students to doom scroll their minds when learning new content, break up the lectures with in between examples of components, pass them around class to get the hands on and visual aspect, on what they will be actually working with in the working world. Allow some time for student questions, maybe ask them if they have seen or worked with a component you have passed around the class.

Setting a comfort level for a new class, introduce the instructor and share his/her background of their work. I would get a quick name of each student and what they expect this class could do for their career. Make your students feel desired and eager to learn, give them the first day course syllabus and what is expected from them. I don't want my students to feel that pressure, make their learning enjoyable, with real world examples the instructor may have experienced, and shop safety is an important one for my class. No horse play with tools and equipment will… >>>

Planning and preparation , is the key to successful teaching. I would incorporate a syllabus as a foundation to the course i will teach.

Having a syllabus would better engage the students to what they are learning and what to expect, especially the go getter types of students that would like to read ahead, and grasp some crucial content that will better help them focus on what they are learning, by having that pre-knowledge, would aid in better study habits and retention of the content.

Bringing the students the hard skills, experience from the outside, showcase the hands on skills from real world situations, along with the soft skills of classroom instruction will both prove invaluable to the development of teaching methods and gaining instructor skill to the classroom. This approach may gain the students learning retention and the new subject being taught and will help the instructor confidence level rise, as he or she begin their career teaching at UTI.
