It is important to complete a full DACUM with the proposal of a new program.

When you start over at a new company and it needs and wants leadership, what do you do to facilitate leadership from within the group without usurping the role?

I am cautious around individuals who claim to be one leadership style. Being a leader demands that you approach each situation, that requires leadership and not management, with the unique circumstances that it deserves. So any leadership style you use to approach situation, granted it is an appropriate style to use, needs a negative feedback style to provide stability.

What I see especially with new managers and leaders is that they default to their most comfortable style and become monostyled which almost always leads to burn out or just failure. When you see accomplishment by a team under this leaderhip,… >>>

interesting. Sometimes I lead and sometimes I manage those who I'm training to lead one day.

Asychronous means that the instructor and student are not in the same place and time. So you can still have students come into lab and complete the work on their own time. Lab techs can be available.

Constructive feedback on asynchronous labs so students can reAttempt the lab to gain a better understanding. Deadlines need to be thrown out and the course should be more fluid. Giving students a weekly schedule is good to keep them on track but remember why students are choosing to do the asychronous courses. It is because they need to manage multiple things.

Blogs, discussion threads are a good way for students to self reflect and share with each other. This provides a good connection between students.

Hi Kristi. You can't see this now but hi anyway. Touch points help students stay on track without being directly supervisory

Reply to Cori McGhee's post:Interesting. What do you do when a student didn't choose that learning format? The pandemic is a good case for many. So many students said they don't learn well in online. I don't blame the students. They are amazing at focusing to other online material. I think we need a better way to develop online asychronous material. Our methods are too outdated. Our theories are good. Community of Inquiry is a good model. We just don't take chances with trying new methods.
