So folks with convictions are MORE reliant on word of mouth networking and personal introductions when it comes to landing interviews and job offers.

Hiring managers may be more willing to listen to the fullĀ  story, and show more confidence in offering a position to a convicted felon IF a trusted co-worker or employee has given a recommnedation.

This is the best way in the door for ALL job seekers, but when a person has this "extra" obstacle, it is easy to see how personal networking will benefit folks in this situation.

I agree, Sarah! 

Sometimes I find that Vets are surprised how much common ground there is, perhaps the military language masks that fact.

But like any language there is a translation possible, and the fact is MANY of our students are career changers, so there is some level of translation going on from one career to another.

In Raleigh I find that healthcare, technology, and of course criminal justice partners are very much willing to work with and pursue military veterans, so this is a strong market for them!
