About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Peter, I can tell you pay close attention to your students. You are concerned about your students success because you constantly try to cater to your students. I bet your students appreciate your caring ways. Patricia
Hi Susan, This is also a good way for students to utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills. Patricia
Hi Fred, Whenever students have lost respect for you it is extremely hard to get it back. Do yourself a favor and don't give students a reason to lose your respect. Patricia
Hi Lisa, Even though you may be younger than some of your students, if you handle yourself professionally at all times, you are prepared for classes, and very knowledgable about the subject matter, students tend not to make a big deal about age. Patricia
Hi Linda, It can be challenging to deal with students who do not see the benefit of taking the course and those who feel as though they know everything. I simply have private conversations with these students. Patricia
Hi Andrew, We know that most students are really just focused on the end product. Students do become really involved whenever they can see an example of the end product. Patricia
Hi Thomas, What a good method to use for relationship building. You are really showing your students how much you really care. I am sure your students appreciate the conversations. Patricia
Hello Susan, What a geat idea1 I am going to have to borrow that one from you. :-) Patricia
Hi Susan, Your excitement is right their on the surface--medical. Some instructors have to dig deep for current events, but the deep digging is worth every bit of it. Current events are great conversation pieces. Patricia
Hi Dave, Anytime you can relate the course to their career, the students automatically become excited, interested, and involved. Students like to hear about what they are going to college to become. Patricia
