the importance to be flexible using a instructional strategies make all the difference for students with learning disabilities. rather than expecting every student to absorb information the same way using multi-sensory tools structured routines and explicit guidance allows learners with processing challenges to show their true potential 

this section really drives home why career exploration and self advocacy are so critical.with only 19% disclosing their learning disabilities to employers and just 5 % receiving workplace accommodations.

This module was an eye opener on how learning disabilites. like dyslexia, dyscaculia or dyspraxia are hidden processing differences. not a reflection of a stdents's potential or work ethic. learning how my students take in information lets me tweak my teaching on the spot. 

I have a much clearer understanding of learning disabilities as an umbrella term covering complex cognitive processing differences ,like dyslexia that exist alongside average or above average intellect. learning disabilities are life long neurological conditions not issues of effort or intelligence. Reading and  digesting information requires multi step processing from phonemic awareness to full comprehension.  

Since my entire student population consists of individuals with disabilities, taking this course gives me the vital tools to better recognize and pinpoint where a student is struggling. I can now recognize whether the barrier is reading, comprehension auditory processing or trouble moving from abstract… >>>

for learning success need be a new mind set about give to them concrete examples, maintain consistency , be open to alternatives assignments. routine and order help to. and use visual reminders auditory reminder . as a teacher are goal is maintannce of the  standard but be flexible.

I Gained a much clearer understanding of THe legal frameworks that support individuals with disabilities. IEP and notice that finished in highschool. section 504 plans and ADAAD.

As an educator preparing students for real world independence and employmnet, my biggest priority is teaching them self advocacy

Every students is different including those with high funtioning or co- ocurring conditions like anxiety, DHD, OR SENSORY PROCESING CHALLENGES. Instead of focusing on limitations we must recognize each students unique strenght interest and profile. having detailed information about each student five us the exact tools we need to help them succeed.

In my entry level culinary arts program I see firsthand how powerful this understanding is Food is an incredible connector. cooking gives students a hands-on way to build confidence, gain independence, and connect with peers sometimes. I will apply this directly by teaching my students how to navigate… >>>

Autism is characterized by social isolation and differences in communication and interaction. while the exact cause remains unknow, it can stem from a combination of factors, including generic predispostions and environmental triggers. early diagnosis crucial, as it fives individuals more tools and support to successfully transition into adulthood. 

today we classify ASD based on two main areas: communication/social interaction and restricted/repetitive behaviors. 

I plan to use this foundation to create supportive learning environment by recognizing these characteristics early and understanding each student's style. I can fit my teaching strategies to meet their needs, reduce frustration, and better prepare them for… >>>
