Preparation is the best way to start. Planning and organizing helps the students to know exactly what is expected of them and make it easier for them to follow the plan and be successful in doing so. Also knowing the students and building relationships promote trust.

To facilitate all students learning it is important to understand that student learning preferences are important for  them to engage in creating different learning and engaging  in educational experiences.  During my  lectures I usually give a short introduction of the subject and use videos, and divide students in groups for  discussions and give them quizzes to work on together. Then they present and we discuss the subjects and answer questions.  It encourages more student engagement and they learning from each  other.

I also learned about asynchronous and synchronous discussions. Asynchronous discussions encourages more student’s participation and for them to reflect… >>>

MY take away from this is that  getting to know your students and the students getting to know the instructor goes a long way. I usually discuss briefly my credentials and experiences on the first day and then ask students a few questions about their experiences and reasons for the study of choice. I think having  them write a biography will assist in knowing them better and knowing each other better than just an introduction. I intend to use this strategy and elaborate on my hobbies, and interests as well.

Another one of the most frustrating factor when taking a course online is technology and software malfunction of the computers, especially when they are trying to meet the course assignment deadlines.  I learned that instructor support is crucial for making sure that all students are able to access their computers use the computers and get  support when technology and software goes wrong.

I learned the importance being prepared for class, professional organized,  at the same time being supportive,  and encouraging, to students. Also continue to learn more to develop  my teaching strategies to enhance student success.
