Candy vs. Medicine

I would like to share that one service learning project our students engaged is was prior to Halloween, our students went to The YMCA and taught kids the importance of letting parents or an older family member check candy prior to eating. Students had a mock medication and then a piece of candy that resembled the medication and children attempted to differentiate which was what.

The exercise proved to be engaging for all and Pharmacy Students also learned valuable information on this day.

An internship can teach students practical skills beyond what they can learn in the classroom. Even though, we as teachers, aim to keep students up-to-date on what's happening in the field, a student may find that the only way to get hands-on experience and understanding is by joining the industry and becoming a part of it.
