Instructor's Appearance

It is vitally important for the instructor's appearance to be very professional. Anyone should walk into the institution and be able to differentiate between the student and the instructor based on appearance alone. The instructor's dress should be professional and conservative. Many students look up to us, and they critique the way we are dressed. The instructor's appearance should be a level higher than that of the student. Remember, we are the role models, and there are some students that do not know the difference between professional dress and club dress, therefore we must teach them, and certainly lead by example. I love wearing suits, but there is other attire that looks just as professional. The key is to look professional!

This topic was just discussed in the course I completed with you ED104. As an instructor we are certainly responsible for teaching our students inside and outside of the classroom. We need to look, act, and be professional whenever we are in contact with our students. In my profession, I quickly learned that I always need to look professional because I may encounter a client or prospective client at any time. I need to, as they say, "talk the talk and walk the walk". Demonstrating professionalism in attire is a part of being a professional which is something that our students need to learn so that they can enter their new careers ready to take on their new role.
