High Expectations for Students

Do you believe you get from students what you expect?  I truly believe you get from students what you expect.  As instructors, we need to set the bar high for our students and make them rise to the challenge.  We should not accept mediocrity from our students.  As an instructor, you should know your students potential level, and if the student's potential level is high, you should push the student to the max.  For some students the best that they can do is a "C" and that is their maximum level.  Discover each of your student's potential level and push them to the max!  You will be surprise what your students can do with an extra push!

Hello Patricia,

I work in the admission's department for my college, however, I believe your statement to be true about not accepting mediocrity from our students.  Starting college can be a very intimidating process for any prospective student. Once they are enrolled sometimes they need to know that we care, and we can see their potential. Many times students have not ever been required to ever be pushed to the max in a positive way. Sometimes it takes a little knudge so that they can see that the sky is really the limit.

I believe this with all people. You get what you expect from people. I believe when we set the bar high, students will respond.
