Students Are Important Customers

Students are the most important people in an educational institution!  Faculty and staff need to provide extraordinary customer service to students.  Extraordinary customer service is simple; treat others the way you would like to be treated!  Remember, students are the reason we have jobs!

Instructors work hard at preparation prior to the first day of class. When developing the lesson plan,  think through the process from the students perspective.  Students need to see the value of the content in relation to the total course. Provide clear instruction regarding the lesson plan for the students. Make sure they understand what is expected even though students are external customers. If there is confusion within the lesson plan, go into details where the confusion is.  Show examples to ease the students who feel they cannot do the lesson plan. Provide encourgement to students who are back in school after 15 years since high school.  Try to bring the material down to their level so students can understand it and not fear it. This eases the students and they feel that they have a chance to succeed.
