I have found that when you share an experience with your students it puts them at ease to realize you are hyman too.  They will be more likely to "open up" and become more receptive.

I love sharing my experiences with my prospective students!  It builds rapport and trust and immediately they are not keeping you at arms length afraid that you are only trying to sell them something.  Also, when building this it is so very, very easy to get them to open up to you more easily and readily.
