Managing time and stress reduction

There was a lot in this course to help one manage time and stress.  I think I sometimes get too caught up in what I am doing to remember to do some of the things I learned in this class, even those I already know help. Experience has taught me that I am not as effective a teacher if I forget to take care of myself.

Taking care of yourself in the educational environment is essential to your survival and to the success of the students. I have learned to embrace the down time between classes and to even eat lunch or dinner in that time period. Sometimes this means just being unavailable for student or peer interaction.

I found the course clarified a lot of information for me about different types of assessments and how to properly employ them as well as what to expect from them

I agree that being clear  in your objectives and procedures reduces stress as a teacher.  I am finding that I need to set boundries so I am able to be healthy to address the needs of my students and my obligations as an instructor.

I would agree with you. Something that I am having to deal with is the reality of teaching. The literature often speaks of teachers as though they were lean mean teaching machines. It often neglects the human side of this job. If you are not careful, you will forget that you are a human being in the classroom. You do need to take care of yourself to be at the top of your game.
