In this module, I learned the importance of adapting the leadership style to the situation and the team’s needs, rather than basing it solely on the leader’s personality or temperament. I also understood that trust, empathy, and effective communication are key elements to inspire and guide others.
I plan to apply this in my professional environment by balancing management with leadership, fostering collaboration, personal growth, and a shared sense of purpose within my team.
There are different types of leadership styles. Working with different people and they all have different learning styles and goals. You cannot lead the same way with everyone. You have to be able to adjust your leadership style. Watching the video, I now have more respect for any educator in the K-12 education sector.
I’ve realized that I don’t want to work in K-12 education. Leaders in administrative K-12 roles need to be deeply passionate about their work in order to lead effectively.
My leadership style changes. I try to always lead by example and inspiration, then adjust to the people or situation that I am dealing with.
Leading by example and maintaining communication is key to understanding the needs of any institution
I tend to lead by example. I strongly believe that a team can only be as good as its leader. If I am failing at something, how can I demand the best from my team? Right? I also need to have excellent communication with my team. I treat them with respect, politely, fairly, but I am also demanding because I can't stand mediocrity.
I tend to lead by inspiration, influence, motivating, coaching and holding people accountable for results.
The leadership job in k-12 and higher education is challenging and requires a holistic understanding of the students needs to lead effectively.
It is refreshing to know the pros and cons of many other leadership styles.
A leader inspires, motivates, and guides people to take ownership of their responsibilities to get the job done.
I have learned that leadership is not just about holding a position of authority, but about inspiring and influencing others toward a shared goal.
I look forward to implementing alternative management styles based on my team and the task at hand.
Different leadership styles may be effective in different situations. Its important to be open to changing styles depending on the goal and the staff you are working with.
My leadership style is constantly evolving. At its base, my philosophy is a relentless and consistently productive pursuit of team goals.
Leaders need to be passionate and be an example to others. There are many different leadership styles, but the goal is the same.
I have a Master's degree in Leadership and have found that no matter how much I may think I know or how much leadership experience I have, there is always so much more to learn. I also learned that I have another leadership style (pacesetting/coaching).
Leaders need to be passionate about what they are doing, believe in their teachers and staff, and students. They surround themselves with competent staff and provide all the resources to support those who need support and encouragement. Give them time and space to learn from errors and make improvements. I like the three c's: competency, Candor, and Constancy, great values to carry with you as a leader.
I was amazed at all of the disparity shown. It's amazing that so many teachers are willing to step forward to make a difference.
As demands and circumstances change, it is important for leaders to adapt, too. This is critical to effectiveness!
